The basis of this identity was drawn from the initials of the University of Salford name, simplifying them down into 'U' and 'S' spelling out the word 'us'. The repetition of this word across marketing assets as well as across the campus itself during the event signifies unity and togetherness amongst not only first year students, but all of the university's students.
